TRANSPLANTS

My five-year-old daughter Bethany was slowly dying of a progressive liver disease. Since she was only a few weeks old she has taken a daily cocktail of 15 or more medications to keep her going. Last October she finally gave up on full-time schooling as her energy levels were so low that she had to sleep 15 or 16 hours per day. We were told that, without a liver transplant, she might only live a couple more years. On 16th January 2009 she received a liver from somebody who had passed away, but had the foresight to sign the National Organ Donor Register.

If you have any doubts about signing this register, click on some of the links below to read about Bethany and some other people. Then discuss the matter with your family.

After this, click the logo at the top of this page (or telephone 0300 123 23 23) and spend a few minutes submitting your details. Then, when you no longer need them, your organs could save up to EIGHT lives like Bethany's.
